RESIDENCIA GORILA
Residencia Gorila was the pioneering artist residency in Tulum and Quintana Roo, established in 2011. From its inception, it attracted artists from around the globe, creating a vibrant and diverse creative community. In the early years, we embraced muralism, painting over 50 murals across Yucatan in just three years. This artistic journey evolved organically, leading to the opening of our gallery, Tulum Art Club.
What began as a film studio in 2011 has blossomed into a dynamic community and living space for musicians, artists, filmmakers, photographers, creatives, and activists. The motto of Residencia Gorila, "crear, crecer, compartir" (create, grow, and share), encapsulates our ethos. This philosophy permeates our art, activism, and daily lives. Through the act of creation, we believe in healing and personal growth, both spiritually and personally. Growth also comes from sharing knowledge and ideas, making sharing a fundamental principle of our community.
Residencia Gorila was more than a residency; it was an immersive experience. From the food and music to the conversations and artistic expressions, it provided a unique setting in the middle of paradise to connect with nature, experience culture, and collaborate with other creatives. In 2016, we merged with Tulum Art Club, expanding our reach and experiences throughout different parts of Tulum and Yucatan.
Our journey from a film studio to a renowned artist residency and gallery reflects our commitment to fostering a creative and collaborative environment. Tulum Art Club continues this legacy, offering a space where artists can thrive, grow, and share their visions with the world.
